His grandfather and father both played for Border and he is the cousin of former one-day player Dave Callaghan.In February 2001 he struck 188 for Eastern Province against North West which included nine sixes, five of which came from one over.He had a series of destructive knocks for South Africa in 2005: 57 off 36 balls, 80 off 50, 53 off 21 against England and Zimbabwe and he hit 73 off 64 and 30 off 21 for wins over New Zealand.
